What Is the Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair?
The Regeneron International Science and Engineering Fair, commonly known as Regeneron ISEF, is the world’s premier science competition for high school students. Established in 1950 and organized by the Society for Science, it has grown into a globally recognized platform that gives the brightest young scientific minds a stage to showcase research with real-world impact.
Every year, millions of students compete at local, regional, and national science fairs around the world. The top performers earn the right to compete at Regeneron ISEF, where more than 1,700 finalists representing 67+ countries, regions, and territories are judged across 22 scientific categories, from Biomedical Engineering and Environmental Science to Mathematics, Robotics, and Physics.
Who Backs It?
In 2019, Regeneron Pharmaceuticals became the title sponsor of ISEF. As part of their broader commitment to STEM education, Regeneron has pledged over $300 million to both ISEF and the Regeneron Science Talent Search between 2017 and 2036. The competition is supported by an additional community of sponsors spanning entrepreneurship, technology, energy, science, and the arts, including Google.org, Microsoft, Intel, Siemens Energy, Jane Street, and Midjourney.

Our History with Regeneron ISEF
Cesco has been a key language services partner for Regeneron ISEF since 2021, and what started as a single-year commitment has grown into one of the most meaningful ongoing partnerships we have.
Our role at the event goes well beyond a logo on a sponsor list. Each year, we sponsor the full interpreting operation: helping to recruit consecutive interpreters to support students during project judging and delivering remote simultaneous interpreting across multiple languages for special panels, as well as the opening and awards ceremonies. This ensures that every finalist and attendee, regardless of where they come from, are able to fully participate in the event, to understand and be understood.
It has not always been straightforward. The early years brought their own logistical puzzles, from coordinating a fully virtual event across global time zones to managing a hybrid format as the competition returned to in-person. As the event settled into fully onsite delivery, the challenge shifted to identifying qualified interpreters in each host city capable of covering the range of languages spoken by students arriving from across the world. When your attendees represent 60 to 80 countries, that is not a small question.
Over the years, the competition has taken us to Atlanta, Dallas, Los Angeles, Columbus, and this year’s Phoenix. Each city brings a different set of logistics, and each year we show up ready to handle them. What has stayed constant is the energy in the event. These are young people presenting bold, original research, many of them experiencing the United States for the very first time. That alone makes the work worth doing.
Cesco at Regeneron ISEF 2026
The 2026 competition was held at the Phoenix Convention Center in Phoenix, Arizona May 14 through May 15, 2026, drawing finalists from across the globe.
This year also marked the 75th anniversary of ISEF, a testament to over seven decades of inspiring young scientists and engineers from every corner of the world.
Projects tackled some of today’s most pressing challenges, from environmental science and AI to mathematics and biomedical engineering. In total, more than 540 projects received prizes, with finalists competing for more than $7 million in awards and scholarships.
